Tuesday Huesday: Butterfly Canvas

Just got my August 2010 Anthropologie catalog in the mail. If you are a painter or crafter looking for inspiration, catalogs are a great resource!  Overall I thought the catalog was very muted (perhaps it was the photography), but I did see some color palettes I was drawn to.  One of them was used in this Butterfly Framed Art by Paule Marrot Editions, listed on page 27.  The colors are bright, but the way they are combined is so genius – the resulting design is beautiful and not overpowering.  Add some grays and/or blacks to tone it down and you’ll have a fun and pretty piece that won’t be screaming for attention on your room walls.

This palette was created using Apple Barrel Acrylic colors (clockwise from upper left): Bright Red, Concord Grape, Pink Parfait, Aquamarine, Cool Blue
