Hot Glue Gun Helper Giveaway

Make it Monday: Chalkboard Herb Pot

Spring is in full bloom, and that means it is time to get outside into your garden. There are so many flower pots out there to buy, but how about making your own? Try crating this chalkboard herb pot. This fashionable decorative pot is one of the Artsy Clay Pots projects by Cathie and Steve. This pot is very simple to make, and you can write whatever you want on it. Create this pot in several different colors, with several different messages. Your flower garden is sure to be a colorful one, with pots like these inside.

PLAID Supplies

  • Plaid ® Hot Glue Gun Helpers
  • FolkArt ® Chalkboard Paint – Hot Pink, 8 oz.
Other Supplies
Large clay pot
Foam paintbrush
Hot glue gun and glue
Ribbon and trim

Instructions

  1. Working in one direction, paint the clay pot with Chalkboard paint. Allow to dry. Paint a second coat in the opposite direction. Allow to dry. Paint a third coat in the direction you first painted. Allow to dry.
  2. Season the chalkboard paint by rubbing a piece of chalk over the surface. Wipe and clean and you are ready to write a message.Using Hot Glue Gun Helpers and hot glue, glue ribbons and trims around the top of the pot.

Tuesday Tutorial: Three-Tiered Jewelry Stand

Last week we introduced many of you to the 7 different formulas of Mod Podge, for many this was the first time you even new of more formulas. In case you are a bit overwhelmed on the best ways to use them, let us help you by offering a suggestion. Let’s begin with the gloss formula. In case you didn’t know Mod Podge gloss works great on glass! This stand will store your trinkets with style. Designed by Cathie and Steve, this three-tiered jewelry stand will make sorting and finding your accessories a little less harder to find. Below find all the supplies you will need, along with instructions.

PLAID Supplies

Mod Podge ® Gloss, 8 oz.

Other Supplies
Tiered cookie stand – clear glass
Decorative scrapbook paper
Fiskars scissors
Old book pages

Instructions

1. Disassemble the stand. Wash the glass plates and thoroughly dry.

2. Cut out the pattern ladies (or a different image) from scrapbook paper.

3. Apply Mod Podge to the top of the pattern ladies cutouts. Place onto the backside (underside) of the glass plates. Press any air bubbles with your fingers.

4. Cut old book pages into squares, apply a coat of Mod Podge to the papers and apply to the plate over the pattern ladies. Top coat with a layer of Mod Podge. Continue adding more book page squares until the entire plate is covered.

5. Do this for each plate. Once they are all dry, reassemble the stand.

Cathie and Steve are Craft Master Judges

Have you heard of Craft Masters? Craft Masters is a crafting competition web series that’s all about skill, speed, and ingenuity. The competitors will be judged by a panel of experts. Cathie and Steve are among the judges for the January 13th competition. To join in and watch the competition in action, Michaels will be live streaming it. There will be two live streaming events. One at 10:00 a.m. and the second at 9:00 p.m. Cathie and Steve will be judging contestants who will be redoing patio furniture, using Mod Podge. The day they are judging, the contestants will be doing a patio furniture redo, using Mod Podge. This competition is sure to be lots of fun. So make sure you head over to Michaels, to watch the live streaming event.
