Freelance Friday: Rustic Spoon Pendant

I am always amazed with how creative people can get, with everyday items. Check out this awesome DIY spoon pendant. This pendant was made by one of our friends, the Busily Spinning Momma. Obviously the main item needed to recreate this project is a spoon, lol, but feel free to use this as inspiration to use another type of utensil. I wonder how this would look as a fork pendant? This pendant tutorial is simple to follow, and a few of the supplies used included FolkArt ClearCote High Shine Glaze, and Mod Podge. Thanks to the Busily Spinning Momma for sharing this incredible project. To learn how to make this cool pendant click here. What do you think about this project? Have you ever made a craft out of a utensil?

Web Wednesday: Crafty Nails

The beauty industry is getting very crafty. There are several new nail trends that are being inspired by longtime craft techniques. You probably are used to using a crackle finish to add an antique effect to a painting, or a piece of furniture. Or you are used to decoupaging a frame, plate, or tray. Well now believe it or not, you can take these same craft techniques, and infuse them on your nails. A few of the hottest trends with nail polishes today is the crackle effect, decoupaging, and tie dye. Many big beauty companies are backing this trend by rolling out entire lines inspired by craft techniques. Sally Hansen and OPI are leading the pack when it comes to this cool new nail trend. Have you, or would you try this trend? If so please leave a comment and let us know.

Tuesday Huesday: A Burst of Brightness

With summer in full effect, one thing you can’t miss are all the bright colors. In the summer you can see bright colors in every place and space imaginable. From a delicious cool treat like a snow cone, to a gorgeous colorful summer dress. Colors are everywhere in the summer, and not hard to spot. That’s how we felt when this porch caught our attention. Check out this fabulous summer themed porch. We stumbled across this burst of brightness from Traditional Home, and could not take our eyes off it. The idea of taking normal interior decor, and using is outside is very lovely. It really creates a very comfortable, homelike environment. The color palettes used are brilliant and cheerful. How could you not smile with colors like these surrounding you? Use this bright summertime porch as inspiration to update your own porch, or another space in your home.

We created this palette using FolkArt Acrylic Colors, Bright Baby Pink 223, Turner Pink 2248, Red Light 629, Pumpkin 225, and Sunny Yellow 509.

Freelance Friday: Lamp Makovers

During the summertime months there are several projects that people decide to tackle. Many of those projects include performing makeovers within the home. I myself have been toying with the idea of doing a makeover on my bedroom, that is why this project from Laura Bray caught my attention. When I stumbled across this lamp shade she made over, I was so impressed. It is so cute, and I will definitely use it as inspiration for a lamp shade I will be working on. Laura used FolkArt acrylic paint to create this unique design. When it comes to interior decorating, it can become pricey very quickly. Knowing this, it just makes more sense to break out the craft supplies, and get creative! Thank you Laura for this amazing project. Can’t wait to get started on redoing my lamp shade. To learn step by step how Laura made this lamp shade please visit her blog, Katy Diddys. Have you performed a makeover on anything in your home lately? If so please tell us about it.
