Tuesday Huesday: A Place to Create

What do you use your home office for? This may sound like a strange question, but believe it or not many people do not use their office as an office. Some use this room as an extra storage space, an extra bedroom, or a hobby room. Many people who craft take their office, and convert it into a craft room. Depending on the extent you craft, you may or may not need your own room designated to your hobby. However if your craft supplies are exploding throughout your home, then you may want to think about housing all your supplies in one place. Tuesday Huesday: A Chic Valentine’s Themed Table

Gasp! That’s exactly what I did when I first laid eyes on this gorgeous table. I stumbled across this table first on Pinterest. The original source was from a blog called, The Inspired Bride. Although the creators of this amazing table decorated it with a wedding in mind, I see this table fitting in nicely at a Valentine’s Day dinner party. I love the mixture of colors used on it. There is little red hues in this design, which to many is the required colors to decorate with during Valentine’s Day. I feel that people often times forget about pink. I am such a girly girl so I love pinks, and purples for that matter. They are such feminine colors, that I love to decorate with. This table is soft, yet very chic. It is not overly mushy, but quite tasteful. Hopefully soon I can throw a dinner party for friends. I will definitely use this table design as inspiration.

Tuesday Huesday: Pretty in Pink and Purple

I often times wonder who likes Valentine’s Day more? Kids or adults? I am leaning more toward kids, because they have less pressure on this day of love than us adults. They look forward to more simple gifts such as candy, and cards. They are excited by these little things. But what if a child was really into this day of love, and wanted to decorate their room? I stumbled across this bedroom, and immediately thought that this is the perfect example of what a little girl’s room would look like if she was given the chance to decorate it on her own. This bedroom is so precious. If I was once again a little girl, I would love the chance to have my bedroom look like this. Use this image as inspiration to get some decoration ideas for Valentine’s Day. As you can see, there is very little red used throughout. The main colors are pink and purple. Red is known and used as the traditional main color for Valentine’s Day, however many prefer to use more pinks and purple hues. Tuesday Huesday: Valentine Bedroom Decor Inspiration

Valentine’s Day is about a month away, and there are several ways to decorate to celebrate this day of love. I thought it might be interesting to take a look at a Valentine’s Day inspired bedroom. The image above was found on a site called, Home Design Trends. This room is very soft, and not too overpowering. Normally when one thinks of a pink room, it can at first seem overwhelming. This is a pleasant surprise. If pink is your favorite color then this may be your dream room. I am not sure this room would’ve looked as good with red tones in place of the pinks. It just goes to show that although red is the main color for Valentine’s Day, explore some other hues. Would you ever consider decorating your bedroom for Valentine’s Day?

The beginning of the year is the most popular time for people to want to organize their lives. For many people one of the biggest things they want to organize is, a room in their home. If you are crafter, more than likely you craft room could use some organization. All month here on Paint Me Plaid, and www.plaidonline.com, we have been posting projects and articles to help give you suggestions on how to organize your crafts. Here is another great example of how to organize your craft room. I recently stumbled across this image online. I love how this basic bookshelf was turned into a creative storage space. It also doesn’t hurt that the color scheme has a Valentine’s theme to it. This would be a very simple way to get organized. Tuesday Huesday: A Splash of Color

Is home decorating one of your new year’s resolutions? Well if so there are some great new trends to look to for inspiration in 2012. One trend with home decor is adding a splash of color to your rooms. According to Deborah Wecselman of DWD Inc. she suggests starting with neutral hues of taupe, beige, cream, grey, black and white, and then adding unexpected pops of color with bold accessories from bright yellow paintings to royal blue vases. This nursery is a great example of this trend. The base of the room is painted white, and then there are several accent colors used to spice things up. The standout out color is the Tangerine Tango hue. This color by the way is the top color pick of 2012 according to, Pantone. So keep this in mind when you are about to decorate one of your room in this new year. Don’t be afraid to add a splash of color.

Even though Christmas is over, it doesn’t mean you don’t have to stop being in the holiday spirit. If you are looking for a way to spread more holiday cheer throughout your home, then take some inspiration from this festive room. I found this room design on Better Homes and Gardens. If your room looked like this, there is absolutely no way you cannot have a smile on your face. The mixture of vibrant colors makes this room give off a cheerful energy. Only 5 more days until Christmas. Aren’t you so excited? I know I am. Tuesday Huesday: Christmas Tree Decorations

Have you already finished decorating your Christmas tree? I have to admit, I have not even put mine up yet. I know many people have had their trees up since Thanksgiving. When it comes to decorating a tree there are several ways you can do this. Some people prefer a very traditional decorated tree, others like only using one color to decorate the entire tree. Whatever way you decide to decorate there is no right or wrong way. This is one of the many reasons people look forward to dressing their Christmas trees. Although I do not have my tree up yet, I think I am leaning towards using a lot of metallic color ornaments. I was looking around Pinterest for some ideas, and I came across this tree. I love these decorations, because they are simple in shape yet vibrant in color.

Tuesday Huesday: Non-Traditional Christmas Colors

Are you as addicted to Pinterest, as much as we are here at Plaid? Over the past couple of months we have started to hear from other pinterest fans, about their love for this site. It is very easy to become addicted to browsing all the wonderful images found here. There are so many great things on display. I recently visited Pinterest to gather some ideas for Christmas home decorating. I came across the image above, and it immediately caught my eye. This image was pinned by Centsational Girl. Often times I feel that there is an unwritten rule that states, all Christmas decorations must only be in traditional red, and green colors. I know there is no real rule, but I seem to always gravitate towards the traditional colors. Well this year I have decided to shake things up a bit, and be non-traditional when it comes to my Christmas colors. I love the use of jeweled toned hues. I definitely plan to incorporate fuchsia, electric blue, and more metallics in the mix. Have you used non-traditional colors in your Christmas decorations before?
